Job description

The Senior Program Manager will lead a government contract within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), supervising a team of contractors. The Senior P.M. will help lead the organization's strategic objectives, working closely with senior executives within the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA).


  • Manage and provide oversight for a team of contractors and their projects. Lead development of project schedule.
  • Ensure government requirements in the Performance Work Statement (PWS) are met.
  • Monitor and report on contract financials.
  • Conduct detailed analysis and research to support organizational initiatives and decision-making processes.
  • Develop and present high-quality presentation decks for senior executives within VBA, ensuring clarity and professionalism.
  • Communicate effectively with senior executives, creating reports, and memos, and delivering verbal presentations.
  • Conduct business analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements and enhanced efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain business intelligence dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, analyze trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in project management, business analysis, and evidence-based policymaking.

Job requirements

Minimum Education and Credential Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree
  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant managerial experience managing projects/programs.
  • Experience with evidence-based policymaking under the Evidence Act of 2018 is a plus.
  • Experience leading projects or project teams.
  • Experience working on efforts in the VA.


Skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint.
